FISHING ONLY
During sockeye salmon season, we run two, six-hour trips each day, 5:30am-11:30am and 12-6pm. Other trips are 7-8 hours long. King & Silver Salmon Charters
Kenai River (All Season)
$300 per person* (7-8 hours)
(King salmon closed for the season)
Kasilof River (All Season)
$300 per person* (7-8 hours)
We target Kings on the Kasilof River in June, while silvers start showing up in August and we chase them on the Kenai River through September. All fishing is done from the boat with trips typically starting around 6 a.m., ending at 2 p.m. or limits. We can fish up to 5 anglers in a boat, 4 comfortably.
Sockeye Salmon Charters
Kenai River & Kasilof River (All Season)
$250 per person* (6 hours or limit)
We target sockeye, July through August with 6-hour trips on the Kenai and Kasilof Rivers. The first trip of the day meets at 5:30 a.m., with the second meeting at noon. Each boat can transport up to 5 anglers.
Rainbow Trout Charters
Kenai River (All Season)
$300 per person* (7-8 hours)
Our resident rainbow trout can be targeted on the Kenai River all season long, with the bulk of the fishing done from mid-August to the end of September. Trips are 7-8 hours long, starting at 7 a.m. Boats can hold 3-4 anglers, depending on skill level.
Combo Charters
Silver Salmon & Trout
$325 per person* (7-8 hours)
Want to target silver salmon and rainbow trout on the same day? No problem. Our combo trips on the Kenai River let you bring home some meat, while chasing the trophy rainbow trout (catch & release). Trips typically start at 6 a.m. or 7 a.m. and last 7-8 hours.

Private boats give you the flexibility to change your daily fishing schedule as to where & what to fish for, with the guides advice.
Saltwater Charters
Halibut, Rockfish & Salmon
Call for current rates with our partners
We work with a handful of excellent, saltwater charters in Homer and Seward and can book the charters for you - at no additional cost. You get to book all your excursions with one outfit for less stress on your end.
A 50% deposit is required at booking, unless purchased within 14 days – then full-trip price is due at booking. *Plus 3% sales tax. An additional 3.5% fee will be added to the balance when paying with a credit card. Other payment options: Check, Venmo (@explorekenai), Cash App ($explorekenai), Wells Fargo Zelle, PayPal (3.6% fee). Remaining payment to Explore Kenai due prior to trip, or cash on day of to the guide (if pre-arranged). Full refund of the deposit will be given for cancellations outside of 60 days prior to the trip. Cancellations occurring inside of 60 days before arrival will forfeit the full amount, unless the vacancies are filled. No refunds for non-appearances, early departures or missed trips. We recommend the purchase of travel insurance.
